Method Building Inspections

The Scope

Pita came to Kind Design with a business idea, a lot of industry knowledge, and a fresh opportunity for us to name the company, create a brand, and build a website. The brief was to build everything from the ground up: a brand strategy, visual identity, website, and digital setup that would help him launch confidently into the Waikato market and stand apart from the franchises and faceless operators already out there.

The most important part of the design process was articulating what made Pita different. In a market where every building inspector claims to be thorough, experienced, and professional, we worked to create a brand that is true to Pita's personal values, stands out amongst the masses, and is scalable for future growth.

The Concept

Early on, Pita mentioned manaakitanga, the Māori concept of genuine care, generosity, and respect for others. Pita used manaakitanga to describe the way he works and it became the anchor for everything.

From there, three brand pillars emerged: Real, Considered, and Solid. Not aspirational statements about what the business wants to be, but an honest description of what it already is.

The name Method came late in the naming process, but it landed immediately. It speaks to a deliberate, careful way of working for someone who has developed their own approach through real world experience. It works as hard visually as it reads – strong on a van, confident on a business card.

The visual identity draws from the land itself. A rich brown, a soft sky blue, and a cloudy off white. A palette inspired by the earth we break and the sky our roofs touch. Unexpected in the building inspection industry, which tends toward corporate blues and predictable greys, but completely fitting for a brand grounded in place and people.

The wordmark is set in Mānuka by Klim Type Foundry, a compressed typeface designed right here in Aotearoa and named after the native New Zealand plant. It's the perfect fit for a brand and team that's so down to earth.

The icon, a stylised M reading simultaneously as a roofline and a letterform, keeps things simple. Clean, recognisable, and versatile enough to work across signage, uniform embroidery, and report headers without losing its character.

The tagline, kimihia he waahi pai, find a good space, was chosen to speak on behalf of Pita and his values. It positions Method as a practice that genuinely cares for their clients and provides a bilingual voice for the brand.

The Website

The Method Building Inspections website was designed and built in Webflow to give Pita a professional, conversion-focused online presence from day one, one that performs as well as he does.

To bring the brand to life visually, we collaborated with Lucie Smeriglio of Pictured by Lucie, who captured a full library of brand photography on location in the Waikato. Professional headshots, service imagery across every inspection type, architectural details, and team portraits on site and in uniform. Images that feel real because they are, and that give future clients a genuine sense of who will be showing up at their door.

The site covers the full range of services: pre-purchase and pre-sale inspections, healthy homes assessments, meth testing, and thermal imaging. The copy was written from scratch, informed by Pita's own inspection process and built to perform in both traditional search and AI-driven search tools. The goal was plain English that answers real questions without dumbing things down or hiding behind jargon.

The digital setup extended beyond the website itself. A bespoke booking app, developed by LuminateOne, is embedded directly into the site and provides Pita and the team with an end to end solution for the day to day running of the business. Off the shelf booking tools couldn't support multiple Google Calendars across different inspectors, so a custom build was the only way to get exactly what was needed. Clients book directly through the site, invoicing is handled automatically via Xero, and on-site inspections are streamlined through the app. Property data, photographs, and inspection notes all captured in one place, making it easy to generate the professional reports Method is known for. Every booking is tracked as a conversion in Google Analytics so the business has visibility from the first click to the completed job.

A project that started with a conversation and ended with a fully operational business, ready to go to market.
